session for the new staff in Dar

A new office of the
network is born ! On September 13th, 2001, the Network has
opened its technical office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It is hosted by
the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in the University of Dar es
Salaam (UDSM) campus at Mlimani (about 15 km from city centre).
An Agreement of Understanding
has been signed between UDSM and the Network in order to foster an efficient
collaboration, and Dr Sinda Hussein Sinda from IDS has been designated
as the academic liaison officer with UDSM (sinda@grandslacs.net).
The Network office
employs 3 persons :

This office, fully
equipped with 4 computers, 2 scanners and Internet connection, is in charge
of processing the incoming documents, referencing and indexing each of
them in our documentary data base, and formatting them for the consultation
on the Internet site of the Network.
Its operation will
improve the quantity of documents processed, andalso reduce the delay
for public availability on the Web.
